So you’re a flamenco student and you want to get you feet wet…
I mean who doesn’t want to play, dance or sing for people??
Well there is one place in Sevilla that offers a place for students and it’s in Triana.
Student Shows in Triana
When you’re a flamenco student there’s just one thing missing in Seville.
- Great teachers
- Great shows
- Plenty of people to jam with….
There is just nowhere to perform
A relatively new school, open since 2013, is trying to be more supportive than the rest.
They offer classes in dance, singing, guitar & a little theory (though this is mostly a dance focused school.) But they also offer their stage to students.
The head teacher & director David Perez told us that he wants the Flamenqueria to be a place that a flamencos students & performers alike can feel welcome.
Teachers looking for a hall to teach their own classes privately or for a group also have the ability to hire their large rooms. Meaning teachers have a way of making decent money working on their own.
Here’s a small part of the interview we did with David.
(Or at least it will be here once I finish editing it…)
How can I perform here?
Our friends Yumi & Daniel just asked.
They wanted to organise several shows with many of their flamenco friends so David gave them a spot in their line up.
David told us the best way is to drop into the school or send them an email. You’ll probably need to ask at least a month ahead.
Or maybe Daniel & Yumi have a spot for you in their line up….
Have you performed as a student in Sevilla?
Where did you & what do you think of the scene for students?
